The Nursing Lofts

33 Price Street

33 Price Street, also known as the Nursing Lofts, is an authentic loft condo conversion located in the heart of Rosedale, Toronto. Originally built to house residences for the Ontario Nursing Association, which it did for several decades, the 4-storey structure was refashioned into 17 unique loft units. The development task went to 33 Price Street Developments Ltd, which completed the undertaking in 1996.

The brownstone complex boasts a gorgeous Georgian façade that seamlessly blends the look of the building with the surrounding structures. And while it offers very little in terms of amenities, other than parking space and storage lockers, residents benefit from beautiful decorations, architectural heritage, and privacy. Residents also enjoy close proximity to Yonge Street, only a block away, with quick access to a number of restaurants, shopping venues, fresh markets, chic cafes, trendy boutiques, as well as the Yonge-University subway line.

The quaint and charming units consist of an open-concept floor plan, range from 470 to 1,450 square feet in living space, and feature outstanding finishes, stacked washers and dryers, 9-foot high ceilings, marble window sills, limestone floors, and French double doors that open to Juliette-style terraces. The kitchens include marble finishes and stainless steel appliances. Some units are 2 storeys and feature a fireplace and a skylight.

And then there’s the location. Considered to be the city’s epicenter of affluence and exclusivity, Rosedale is known as the neighbourhood where Toronto’s old money lives. In 2008, average sale price of houses in Rosedale topped $1 million. The area is bound by Yonge Street to the west, Bayview Avenue to the east, Bloor Street to the south, and the Canadian Pacific railway tracks to the north.

Rosedale’s history goes back to the 1820’s when it was settled by Sheriff William Jarvis and his wife. The neighbourhood’s streets were once trails that came to existence as a byproduct of Mary Jarvis’ horseback rides and long walks. Rosedale began to transform into a residential development following the sale of the property in 1864.

Today, the neighbourhood is comprised of tree-lined streets, preserved ravines, and parkland. And while homes in the area were built close to a century ago, some even longer, the section continues to portray the magnificent look of the era.

The residences at 33 Price Street provide a true combination of historic heritage and contemporary life style. Authentic loft-living enthusiasts will find the complex to be the ideal means by which to live a dream.
